Lake District

I recently spent a week up in the Lake District on holiday doing a bit of hiking and took the Mavic 2 set with me. Really great to get out filming again after a long few months of nothing due to Covid.

KAYAK ISLAND ALASKA.jpg

Nature TTL has put on it’s first ever Photography of the Year Competition. My photograph, from the remote Kayak Island in Alaska, was selected in the People’s Choice Award and voting is currently LIVE.

Kayak Island is a remote island on the south west coast if Alaska. I spent a month there filming in almost every type of weather conditions and one morning I woke up to a fresh dusting of snow across the whole island. The photo was taken early in the morning after sunrise with the snow storm clouds seen in the background as the sun lit up the the pinnacle rock that sits at the southernmost tip of this beautiful island. The dusting of snow helped bring out the rugged landscape of this remote and hostile environment. While the rock features might seem like the focus of the photo, hidden on the rocks at the edge of the ocean is a colony of Stellar Sea Lions. These animals can weigh over a ton yet their size is totally masked by the scale of this island.
